WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Metal Scrap

Construction sites, hardware stores, garages, harbors and warehouses; boulders are an alternative source outside buildings.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Check the crafting or repair need and estimate the scrap you are trying to collect without assuming a fixed yield.
  2. Search the named industrial building types for Metal Scrap and spare salvageable equipment.
  3. Take scrap directly when found, keeping capacity for the return trip.
  4. If you have a suitable tool and safe access, mine a boulder and collect the resulting scrap.
  5. Alternatively, open crafting and convert only a surplus salvageable weapon or tool.
  6. Check that the item being converted is not your working weapon, mining tool or essential equipment.
  7. Store scrap at base and repeat another collection method if more is still needed.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat industrial searches, mining or surplus-item conversion until the crafting need is met. Salvage is limited by the spare items you own; it is not an infinite loop by itself.

Common mistakes

  • Salvaging a tool needed to mine: keep the working tool and convert only surplus gear.
  • Expecting one industrial building to guarantee scrap: search another supported building or use an alternate method.
  • Destroying a needed vehicle for materials: vehicle destruction is not necessary for this route.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the recipe or repair reserve is covered; switch to a different gathering method if the remaining gear is essential.
