WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Grow Tomatoes from Tomato Seeds

A protected base plot on level grassy or fertile terrain, or a Planter where placement conditions require it.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Obtain Tomato Seed from an available source or existing crop inventory.
  2. Select a place where the plant can be reached and protected from damage or theft.
  3. Set down a Planter if uneven terrain prevents planting in the ground.
  4. Plant Tomato Seed and confirm that the crop has registered.
  5. Check the plant periodically in game and wait for its harvestable state.
  6. Collect the tomatoes from the mature crop.
  7. Use the crafting menu to inspect seed recovery and retain enough seed stock to plant again.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat planting, waiting, harvesting and seed reservation while you have seed stock. The crop cycle is renewable when you retain enough seeds, but a seed consumed or lost cannot be assumed to return.

Common mistakes

  • Planting a tomato instead of Tomato Seed: use the seed item.
  • Assuming every harvest returns a fixed number of seeds: check the actual output.
  • Leaving plots unprotected in multiplayer: place them behind base protection.

When to stop or switch

Stop when your tomato supply and reserve are adequate or switch to seed collection if the next planting would use your backup.
