Where to farm
Lake Foscari, playing as Sammy. Find a Merchant during the run if you want to spend the collected gold on eggs.
Sammy gains experience when he picks up Gold Coins and Coin Bags while retaining the gold. His starting weapon, Vicious Hunger, can transmute enemies and pickups into gold, but the conversion is chance-based. Together, these traits make Sammy useful for gold-focused runs in the Tides of the Foscari DLC, without guaranteeing a particular return. When you have enough currency, purchase Golden Eggs from a Merchant during the run. Eggs apply to the active character and their stat effects take hold after the run ends.
Own Tides of the Foscari and unlock Sammy by defeating 6,000 Sammy the Caterpillars.
Unlock Lake Foscari by reaching level 20 in Mad Forest.
Unlock Disco of Gold if you want Coin Bags to trigger Gold Fever.
Bring a survivable build and decide which character should receive any Golden Eggs.
Select Sammy and start a Lake Foscari run; Vicious Hunger is his starting weapon.
Build enough defense and attack coverage to control nearby enemies while keeping access to drops.
Choose Disco of Gold if available, then travel through areas you can clear safely.
Break light sources along the route and collect Coin Bags when safe to start Gold Fever.
Gather gold pickups during Fever for currency, healing, and Sammy’s coin-based experience.
Continue collecting drops as the build develops, allowing for Vicious Hunger’s variable conversion chance.
When your purchase goal is affordable, touch a Merchant before the run ends and buy eggs for the active character. Finish the run for their stat effects to apply.
Farming tips
Sammy requires the DLC; Big Trouser is a base-game option for focused gold runs.
Picked-up coins grant Sammy experience, but gold from chests and level-up choices does not.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the Lake Foscari run as desired. Gold drops and Vicious Hunger conversions vary; Merchant purchases happen during a run, and egg stat effects apply after it ends.
Common mistakes
Looking for Sammy in the base game: Tides of the Foscari is required.
Treating Vicious Hunger conversion as certain: its chance varies, so plan around collected gold as well.
Trying to buy eggs after finishing: visit a Merchant before ending the run and check the active character.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the planned egg purchase is affordable, or when enemy pressure makes collecting unsafe. End the run after buying to apply the eggs.
