WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A sunlit Farm Plot at a player base in a standard PC survival world.
A potato plot turns a seed into a repeatable crop supply for food and recipes. Potatoes are grown in Farm Plots and need sunlight, so place the plot where the plant can receive light. Seed access can come from loot, a trader, or crafting unlocked through Southern Farming reading progression.
A Potato Seed, found, purchased, or crafted through the relevant reading progression.
A Farm Plot placed where the crop receives sunlight.
A safe harvest area and storage for potatoes.
Acquire a Potato Seed by looting, checking trader stock, or crafting it if your Southern Farming progression allows.
Choose a stable outdoor or adequately sunlit base location for the plot.
Place the Farm Plot there and confirm no roof or obstruction blocks sunlight to the crop.
Plant the Potato Seed in the plot.
Leave the plot in place while the crop grows; avoid removing the plot because planted seeds are lost with it.
Harvest the mature crop and move potatoes into storage or use them in recipes.
Keep seed supply in mind before consuming the entire harvest; plant again when you have another seed.
Farming tips
Put plots in a protected area you can revisit easily to reduce missed harvests.
Farm Plot removal can recover the plot, but it sacrifices any planted seed, so harvest first.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat by planting another Potato Seed after harvesting. The crop loop is renewable when you maintain seed access; seed availability is not guaranteed from any one source.
Common mistakes
Planting in a shaded spot: move the plot to sunlight because most crops need it.
Removing a plot before harvest: collect the crop first, since the planted seed is lost if the plot is removed.
Spending every potato immediately: retain a seed or source another before planning the next planting.
When to stop or switch
Stop expanding the potato bed when stored potatoes meet your food and recipe needs, or switch to acquiring seeds if you cannot replant.
