Ship graveyards or wreck fields where salvageable wreck blocks are present and the sector is reachable.
Before you go
- Ship equipped with a salvaging laser.
- Cargo room for recovered resources and possible equipment drops.
- Weapons or escort if the wreck field is in a hostile sector.
- A depot or safe location to unload and sort the results.
Farming steps
- Choose a reachable sector with wrecks and inspect its faction and threat context.
- Fit a salvaging laser and verify it is not a mining laser before entering the field.
- Clear enough cargo space for recovered resources and possible equipment.
- Approach wreck blocks and use the salvaging laser to recover materials.
- Watch the hold for equipment as well as resource cargo; stop if space is needed for a safe return.
- Return to a depot or safe station and sort the recovered materials from turret or subsystem items.
- Keep useful resources and equipment, and sell or discard only items you have checked.
- Repeat in another suitable wreck field or return to the asteroid mining loop when wrecks are exhausted.
- Salvage output can include equipment from certain wreck blocks, so leave more flexible cargo room than a pure ore run.
- Keep salvaging and mining loadouts distinct when possible; their tools serve different targets.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable while salvageable wrecks remain available; individual resource and equipment recovery varies.
Common mistakes
- Firing a mining laser at wreckage: equip a salvaging laser for salvage work.
- Filling the hold with equipment without sorting: leave capacity for resources and a return trip.
- Assuming every wreck drops equipment: treat such drops as possible, not guaranteed.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the wreck field is cleared, cargo is full, or local danger makes further salvage a poor risk; switch to asteroids for a predictable ore target.
