Prioritize dedicated drops for a build item

Choose a focused enemy farm when a build depends on a particular piece of gear.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

The named enemy or boss tied to the specific target item; for example, Hunter Hellquist for The Bee or BNK-3R for The Sham.

Borderlands 2 has named enemies with dedicated Legendary pools as well as a broader world-drop pool. When you know the item your build needs, identify its named source and repeat that encounter instead of treating every boss or chest as equally likely to help. A dedicated pool improves focus, but it still does not guarantee the item.

How to farm

Before you go

  • Choose the weapon, shield, or other gear piece your build is missing.
  • Confirm that the item has a named source and note any DLC or mission access needed.
  • Prepare a loadout that can repeat the source encounter reliably.
  1. Write down the target item and the role it should fill in your build.
  2. Identify its dedicated enemy or boss source and confirm the relevant content access.
  3. Travel to that source and complete the encounter.
  4. Inspect the drops for the target and any useful alternatives.
  5. Compare the item’s level and attributes with your current setup before equipping it.
  6. If it does not appear or the roll is unsuitable, use the encounter’s save-quit reset and try again.
  7. Keep the best usable version and stop when further rolls do not improve the build.

Farming tips

  • Broad world-drop farms are better when you want many possible items; dedicated sources are more focused for one target.
  • Track your target and the needed quality before starting, so you know when a drop is good enough.

Repeat, collect and use

Depends on the source: repeat its boss or enemy reset loop while seeking another chance. Dedicated drops are not guaranteed.

Common mistakes

  • Farming a world-drop pool for a specific known item; use its dedicated source where established.
  • Forgetting the source may be DLC-gated or mission-dependent; confirm access before the trip.
  • Chasing an ideal roll after a usable one already meets the build need; set a practical stopping point.

When to stop or switch

Stop when you have a version that performs the needed role, or switch to another build priority if the target no longer matters.
