WHERE & HOW TO FARM Where to farm The Firmware transfer system introduced by the postgame mission Ultimate Vault Hunter: Zane’s Firmware.
Use the postgame Firmware system to preserve a desired Firmware effect while replacing a weaker piece of gear. The transfer is destructive to the donor, so select the item to sacrifice only after checking its type and contents. This is a targeted one-time processing action per donor, not a repeatable loot farm.
Before you go Complete the campaign and Zane’s Firmware introduction mission. Own a donor item carrying the Firmware you want to transfer. Own a receiving item of the same gear type. Inspect your inventory and identify the Firmware effect you want to keep. Choose a receiving item of the same type, such as shield to shield or ordnance to ordnance. Compare the receiving item’s level and build value with your current equipment. Select a donor item that can be destroyed without losing a better roll or needed set piece. Use the Firmware transfer system to move the Firmware onto the receiving item. Equip the upgraded item and verify the Firmware is present. Reassess your build and repeat only with another donor and receiver if you have a clear upgrade. Farming tips Same-type transfer is required; check both item categories before committing. Save a junk or duplicate donor rather than dismantling it until you know whether its Firmware completes a set. Repeat, collect and use Repeatable as a crafting action when you have another donor and same-type receiver, but each transfer consumes the donor item.
Common mistakes Choosing a receiver of a different gear type: match categories before using the system. Sacrificing a valuable donor: inspect its other stats and set value first. Assuming the donor survives: the donor is destroyed during transfer, so select it deliberately. When to stop or switch Stop when the receiving item carries the Firmware your build needs or when no safe donor remains.
