WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Iron Ore
Exposed iron-bearing tiles on the Home Island within a Mine Control Tower’s coverage. Scenario settings may change resource placement, so use the visible deposit and tower area in your current game.
Before you go
- Vehicles & Mining research and a Mine Control Tower.
- At least one excavator and one truck assigned to the tower.
- A reachable ore storage or downstream destination with room for iron.
Farming steps
- Survey the terrain for exposed iron tiles and choose a patch that fits inside the planned tower coverage.
- Place the Mine Control Tower so its control area includes the iron and the excavator can reach the work area.
- Open the tower’s control area and confirm the target tiles are covered.
- Designate only the iron-bearing tiles you intend to excavate.
- Assign an excavator and truck to the tower; set iron as the excavator’s material preference if the zone contains mixed resources.
- Connect truck access to an iron stockpile or the appropriate processing intake.
- Watch the mine and destination status. Resolve unreachable work, full storage or missing vehicle assignments before expanding.
- A material preference helps keep a mixed work area focused on iron; it does not replace selecting the mining tiles.
- Keep iron storage distinct from other ores when downstream processes need a clean supply.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat while designated iron remains and your destination can accept deliveries. Deposits are finite; stop or move the designation when the accessible iron is exhausted.
Common mistakes
- Expecting the tower to mine automatically: designate the tiles and assign an excavator and truck.
- Designating iron outside tower coverage: adjust the area or place a tower that covers the deposit.
- Leaving a destination full or unreachable: restore capacity and truck access before adding more mine work.
When to stop or switch
Pause or relocate the mine when no accessible iron remains, or when iron storage is full and the downstream chain cannot use more.
