Exiled Lands Frozen North: Black Ice crystals between the Frozen Slopes Obelisk and the Temple of Frost, with additional nodes inside the Temple.
Mine Black Ice crystals in the Frozen North when your stockpile needs hardened-steel inputs or Black Ice crafting materials. A reliable Exiled Lands route follows the crystal deposits between the Obelisk on the Frozen Slopes and the Temple of Frost, then checks the Temple area if you are equipped for its hazards. Nodes yield both Black Ice and regular Ice, so plan inventory space for both. This is a cold-region expedition with environmental exposure and nearby hostile creatures; prepare for the environment and turn back if your protection or health is failing. The guide focuses on harvesting the raw material. Learning Frost Smithing and using the Frost Temple Smithy are separate unlock and crafting steps, so do not travel expecting the smithy alone to teach the recipes.
A mining tool that can harvest the crystal nodes and space for Black Ice plus ordinary Ice.
Cold protection appropriate to the Frozen North and supplies to recover if you take environmental or combat damage.
A return route or map marker for the Frozen Slopes Obelisk and Temple of Frost.
Start at the Frozen Slopes Obelisk and orient toward the Temple of Frost; use the named landmarks rather than climbing blindly across the ridges.
Scan the connecting slopes for the dark Black Ice crystal nodes and approach each from a stable path.
Mine a node, then check your inventory for both Black Ice and Ice so you know what the route is producing.
Continue along the corridor between the Obelisk and the Temple, collecting only nodes you can reach and return from safely.
If your protection and combat readiness are adequate, check the Temple area for its additional Black Ice nodes; frost giants make this a riskier extension.
Leave the Temple interior or exposed slope when cold damage or enemy pressure is becoming difficult to manage.
Sort the Black Ice from ordinary Ice at base and reserve the former for the hardened-steel or equipment recipes you actually plan to use.
If your goal is Black Ice equipment, separately learn Frost Smithing at the Lorestone behind Hrungnir of the Frost’s throne and use the Frost Temple Smithy; mining alone does not unlock the recipes.
Farming tips
The Wiki identifies nodes inside the Temple as well as along the Frozen Slopes approach; the exterior route is a useful fallback if the interior is too dangerous.
Budget carry weight for the regular Ice that accompanies Black Ice node harvests.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the landmark route when your Black Ice stock is below the next planned recipe requirement. Node availability and personal harvest totals can vary, so count your inventory instead of relying on a fixed yield.
Common mistakes
Entering the snowy region without enough cold protection; exposure can end the run before the nodes do.
Assuming every crystal deposit is Black Ice; visually inspect the node and confirm the harvest.
Expecting harvested Black Ice to unlock its equipment recipes; Frost Smithing has a separate Lorestone unlock and workstation requirement.
When to stop or switch
Return when you have the Black Ice needed for the next planned batch, or sooner if cold exposure or Frost Giant pressure makes the route unsafe.
