A protected base in the Exiled Lands with a Planter and Compost Heap available.
A Planter lets you grow crops from seeds, while a Compost Heap produces fertilizer used in cultivation. This is a base production loop rather than a wild harvesting route: gather the seed for a crop you want, prepare the relevant inputs, and keep the plot protected while the crop grows. Specialized plants may have different requirements, so inspect the current in-game interface rather than assuming every seed uses the same setup.
Seeds for that crop, gathered from the corresponding plant.
Compost Heap and fertilizer, plus any additional inputs shown by the current Planter interface.
Choose a crop based on a current food or crafting need.
Gather seeds from that plant and retain enough to begin cultivation.
Place or access a Compost Heap and produce fertilizer using its available recipe.
Put the crop seeds and required fertilizer into the Planter as indicated by its interface.
Allow the cultivation process to proceed; avoid removing the inputs before the crop is ready.
Collect the mature crop from the Planter inventory.
Use the crop for its current food or material recipes and retain seeds or inputs for another planting if available.
Farming tips
Start with one crop type so you can verify its live requirements and output before expanding the garden.
Some specialized plants may need Potent Fertilizer; check the crop’s current requirements.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the seed, fertilizer, planting, and harvest loop while you can replace the inputs. Crop output and seed return should not be assumed to be a fixed ratio.
Common mistakes
Putting seeds in a Planter without the required fertilizer; check the interface and supply both inputs.
Treating every plant as an identical crop; confirm any specialized fertilizer or other requirements first.
Harvesting or removing materials too early; wait until the Planter shows a collectable crop.
When to stop or switch
Pause cultivation when the base has enough of the selected crop for its intended recipes or when seed and fertilizer inputs are no longer available.
