Before you go
- Truncheon and bindings for capture and transport.
- Wheel of Pain with the current conversion food requirements.
- Blacksmith’s Bench and a plan for the recipes you want to make.
Farming steps
- Search hostile camps for an NPC shown as a Blacksmith in the current game.
- Knock the NPC unconscious with a truncheon and bind it before it recovers.
- Carry the captive to your base using a route you can safely complete.
- Place it in a Wheel of Pain with the required food and wait for conversion.
- Retrieve the converted worker and open the Blacksmith’s Bench.
- Assign the worker to the matching station slot.
- Inspect the current recipe list and station details, then craft an item using the displayed inputs.
- Confirm the NPC’s profession before capture; a different role may not serve the Bench you intend to staff.
- Check the Bench after placement because tier and specialization influence station benefits.
Repeat, collect and use
Recruitment and assignment are setup tasks, not a repeatable material farm. Bench crafting can be repeated while you have ingredients and suitable recipes.
Common mistakes
- Capturing an NPC without verifying its profession; check its label before investing in transport.
- Assigning the worker to an unrelated station; use the matching Blacksmith’s Bench slot.
- Assuming the worker unlocks a specific recipe or fixed discount; verify the current interface.
When to stop or switch
Stop recruiting once your Bench has a Blacksmith that meets your needs; switch to another station specialist if your remaining bottleneck is elsewhere.
