Clay Caves provide Tin and Gold and are an accessible inner biome for advancing crafting and mining gear.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
The Clay Caves neighbor the Undergrounds; their exact direction is randomized. Forgotten Ruins may appear first on your route.
Locate Clay Caves from the Undergrounds, mine their walls and ore, and return to base before larvae or hostile residents overwhelm a long trip. You do not need Great Wall access to enter.
Radial biome-distance schematic from the Core. It shows distance bands, not a fixed compass map; outer biome sectors are seed-dependent.

How to farm
Before you go
Pickaxe strong enough for Clay terrain.
Food, healing, and a weapon for larvae and Cavelings.
Inventory room for Tin, Gold, and useful drops.
Start at the Core and explore an inner-ring direction until the terrain changes to Clay Blocks.
If Forgotten Ruins appear first, return to the Core and explore the opposite direction to find the neighboring Clay Caves.
Mine accessible Clay walls and gather exposed Tin and Gold Ore from veins.
Move deliberately through larva-heavy areas, checking for acid and traps before stepping into unfamiliar ground.
Avoid entering the Larva Hive sub-biome unless you are prepared for dense larvae and its hazards; Hive Mother is found there, not required for Clay Caves access.
Return to your base and smelt the ore with the appropriate station for its tier.
Spend the bars on the workbench or equipment you need, then mark any useful unexplored branches for later.
Farming tips
Clay Caves and Forgotten Ruins are both inner biomes next to the Undergrounds.
Use a cleared route and map markers to shorten repeat trips to an ore-rich area.
Repeat, collect and use
Mine remaining veins and unexplored branches for more resources. Individual mined walls are consumed, so continued supply requires fresh terrain.
Common mistakes
Waiting to defeat the Great Wall bosses before looking for Tin: Clay Caves are inner-ring terrain.
Confusing the Larva Hive with the full Clay Caves: the Hive is a dangerous sub-biome, not the access route itself.
Ignoring acid and traps: inspect the floor and clear hazards before collecting nearby ore.
When to stop or switch
Return when you have the Tin and Gold needed for your next station or gear goal; switch away from the Hive if hazards outpace your preparation.
