Farming steps
- Open the Journal and choose the fish you want to catch.
- Check its listed habitat and any season or weather conditions.
- Travel to a matching river, ocean shore, or waterhole.
- Equip the Fishing Rod and cast into the water.
- Watch for the bite signal and reel in when it appears.
- Check the catch against your target and adjust habitat or timing if it is different.
- Store catches needed for requests or cooking, and sell surplus to John.
- Use habitat information to narrow your fishing spot instead of casting randomly around the coast.
- Keep a needed first catch in storage before selling duplicates.
Repeat, collect and use
Fishing can be repeated whenever you have the rod and access to suitable water. A target catch depends on its listed habitat and conditions, so no single spot guarantees every fish.
Common mistakes
- Fishing from the wrong water type can exclude the target; match its habitat first.
- Ignoring season or weather requirements may prevent a target from appearing; check its Journal entry.
- Selling a catch before satisfying a request can mean another trip; reserve required fish.
When to stop or switch
Stop once you have the catch needed for the current request or collection goal, or when conditions do not match the target. Switch habitat or return under suitable conditions.
