A Gardening companion can add bonus crops to a harvest, making a prepared field more productive when you need ingredients or sale stock.

Where to farm

Any mature crop field in an unlocked Valley biome.

The role bonus is tied to the villager’s assigned activity and hanging out with you during the relevant work. Set up the role before harvesting a field, then collect the crops while the companion follows. The bonus supports a normal crop plan; it does not replace planting, watering, or choosing the right seed. Keep all quest crops before treating any additional harvest as surplus.

How to farm

Before you go

Reach friendship level 2 with a villager.
Assign that villager the Gardening role.
Plant and grow crops that are ready to harvest.

Choose a villager whose assigned role is Gardening.
Select Hang Out so the villager accompanies you.
Check that the field contains mature crops before beginning the harvest.
Harvest the field while the companion is with you.
Collect the regular produce and any role-based bonus drops.
Reserve task ingredients, then store or sell the remaining crops.

Farming tips

Assign the role before a large harvest so the companion is present for the activity.
Higher friendship and more villagers assigned to the same role can improve bonus chances; treat extra crops as variable, not guaranteed.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat whenever a field is ready to harvest and you want the role bonus; it supplements each crop cycle.

Common mistakes

Taking a Mining or Fishing companion to harvest does not match the activity; choose Gardening.
Harvesting before selecting Hang Out misses the companion benefit for that work; set it up first.
Counting on a fixed bonus quantity can leave a recipe short; reserve the normal harvest requirement.
