Before you go
- One or more Traps.
- Active rabbit holes in a grassland area.
- Inventory space for collected rabbits and any bait you choose to use.
Farming steps
- Locate rabbit holes in grassland and check that the holes are active.
- Place a trap directly over each selected hole.
- Add bait only if you choose; bait is not required for the basic trap route.
- Leave the trap area and continue another task rather than waiting beside the holes.
- Return to check traps before a caught rabbit escapes.
- Collect the rabbit and take the morsel back for cooking or food preparation.
- Reset the trap over the hole and continue checking the row.
- Arrange several traps along one compact route so each check covers multiple holes.
- Make trap checks part of a regular camp return; a catch left too long can be lost.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat the placement, check, collection, and reset loop at active holes. Each catch requires another check and reset; this is renewable only while rabbits and usable traps remain available.
Common mistakes
- Placing a trap beside rather than over the hole: position it on the rabbit hole itself.
- Waiting too long to collect: revisit before the rabbit escapes.
- Assuming bait is mandatory: use bait only if it suits your supplies; the trap can be set without it.
When to stop or switch
Stop checking once you have enough morsels for the next meals or recipe. Leave the traps in place and return when you need more, provided the holes remain active.
