WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Transplant Grass Tufts and Saplings

Separate, reachable rows around a protected camp perimeter.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Find a safe grassland or forest patch with tufts and saplings you can move.
  2. Dig the chosen plants with the Shovel and carry them back to camp.
  3. Plant grass tufts and saplings in separate rows so their harvests are easy to manage.
  4. Immediately fertilize each transplanted grass tuft after planting.
  5. Harvest grass or twigs only when you need them for a craft, fuel, or other use.
  6. Leave some plants unharvested so the camp supply is not depleted all at once.
  7. Return to the rows later and gather regrown materials as needed.

Repeat, collect and use

Return to collect regrown plant materials while plants remain established. Transplanted grass needs fertilizer after planting; winter conditions can limit growth, so the setup is not a year-round guarantee.

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting to fertilize transplanted grass: apply fertilizer just after planting each tuft.
  • Treating saplings like grass tufts for fertilizer requirements: reserve the transplant fertilizer step for grass tufts.
  • Harvesting every plant at once: take only what the next task needs and retain a reserve.

When to stop or switch

Pause collection once your immediate craft or fuel need is met. Switch to another supply source if plants are not regrowing in the current conditions, then return when growth resumes.
