Use a Shovel to relocate grass tufts and saplings into reachable rows around camp. Transplanted grass tufts need fertilizer after planting, while the two plants should be arranged so you can harvest the materials you need without stripping every plant at once. This is a renewable gathering setup rather than instant output: leave a reserve and return as plants regrow. Keep it away from avoidable hazards and do not expect fertilizer to overcome winter growth limits.
Return to collect regrown plant materials while plants remain established. Transplanted grass needs fertilizer after planting; winter conditions can limit growth, so the setup is not a year-round guarantee.
Pause collection once your immediate craft or fuel need is met. Switch to another supply source if plants are not regrowing in the current conditions, then return when growth resumes.

A Lureplant can provide Leafy Meat, but its Eyeplants make the harvest risky and winter suspends its production.
Reign of Giants Cacti remain harvestable through winter and supply Cactus Flesh when farm plots cannot grow.
