Unlock Survival for extended loot

Completing a map’s campaign mission unlocks its Survival mode for continued waves and additional loot opportunities.

PC / Global, original Dungeon Defenders edition
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

The mission selector for any map whose Campaign mission you have completed.

Survival is a map-specific mode that extends play through successive waves after you clear that map in Campaign. It gives you a longer opportunity to gather drops, but also asks your defenses to hold for longer. Unlock maps individually, then choose a comfortable difficulty and stop when the next wave threatens a long, productive run.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Complete the chosen map in Campaign mode.
  • Have a defense setup appropriate to the selected map.
  • Leave inventory space to collect equipment during a longer run.
  1. Open the map selector and choose a map whose campaign you have already cleared.
  2. Select Survival from the mission-type options.
  3. Choose a difficulty that your current defenses can sustain.
  4. Use each build phase to inspect lanes, collect available resources, and repair or reinforce the setup.
  5. Start the next wave only after addressing obvious weak points.
  6. Collect useful loot between waves and keep track of the pressure on crystals and defenses.
  7. End the run when the risk of losing a long session outweighs the value of another wave.

Farming tips

  • Unlocks are map-specific; clear a map’s campaign if Survival is not available for it.
  • Use a lower difficulty to learn a map’s longer-wave demands before pushing upward.

Repeat, collect and use

Survival can be started again after a campaign clear; extended waves and drops repeat, but individual items are not guaranteed.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming one campaign clear unlocks every map: complete each map you want to play in Survival.
  • Continuing into failing waves for marginal loot: leave while the run remains under control.
  • Starting without inventory space: clear room before extended farming.

When to stop or switch

Stop when your build is no longer holding safely, or switch maps when the current route’s drops no longer suit your goal.
