WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Nomad biological survey

Biological signal regions on mapped, landable Odyssey worlds; completed data is sold at Vista Genomics in a station concourse.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Use the Full Spectrum System Scanner to identify bodies with biological signals.
  2. Map the promising body with a Detailed Surface Scanner and inspect the biological regions on its map.
  3. Land near a region and use the sampler to identify a collectable species.
  4. Take the first sample, then travel far enough for the sampler to accept a genetically distinct sample from that species.
  5. Collect the next valid sample or samples until the species set registers complete.
  6. Finish one species before beginning another, then repeat for other species on the planet.
  7. Return to Vista Genomics and sell the completed biological data.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat for each eligible species and planet. A sample set is collected once per species observation; you cannot endlessly farm the same completed set as a fresh payout. New planets and uncompleted species provide new survey targets.

Common mistakes

  • Using the Nomad as if it collected samples; use the Genetic Sampler on foot.
  • Starting another species before finishing the current set; complete the distinct samples first.
  • Selling at Universal Cartographics instead of Vista Genomics; use the biology service for exobiology data.

When to stop or switch

Stop a species run when the sampler marks its set complete; return to Vista Genomics when the accumulated data is valuable enough that you want to bank it safely.
