- Collect the identified plant using the available in-game interaction.
- Check the item in inventory to determine whether it is food, a crop ingredient, or planting stock.
- Keep useful food plants separate from items you intend to use for planting or recipes.
- Return to a safe base or vessel and use the food according to its current inventory or recipe information.
- If you obtain a plant suitable for growing, place it in an available grow plot when conditions and equipment are ready.
