WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Planet surface in areas where edible plants grow; use the plant name and inventory description to identify useful finds.
Explore the current planet for identifiable food plants, collect them using the available in-game interaction, and sort the results into food and planting stock. The exact plants and availability depend on the world, so check names and inventory descriptions rather than assuming a particular species or yield.
A Survival Tool or the available hand-harvest interaction
A current food or planting need to guide what you keep
Travel through accessible surface terrain and inspect plants that appear harvestable.
Read each plant’s displayed name or collection prompt before gathering it.
Collect the identified plant using the available in-game interaction.
Check the item in inventory to determine whether it is food, a crop ingredient, or planting stock.
Keep useful food plants separate from items you intend to use for planting or recipes.
Return to a safe base or vessel and use the food according to its current inventory or recipe information.
If you obtain a plant suitable for growing, place it in an available grow plot when conditions and equipment are ready.
Farming tips
The official food overview describes growing vegetables and fruit, harvesting, hunting, and medicinal plants; plant use varies, so inspect the item before consuming it.
Reserve planting material when building a garden instead of eating every useful plant immediately.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat collection during surface exploration while suitable plants remain available and inventory space permits. Wild collection is limited by what you encounter; it is not a guaranteed timed respawn loop.
Common mistakes
Eating an item before checking whether it is planting or medical stock: review its name and use first.
Assuming every plant is edible: identify the collected item in inventory before consuming it.
Filling inventory with duplicates: prioritize food and planting needs, then return when storage is available.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough food or planting stock for your next activity, or switch to a greenhouse once you can maintain repeatable crops.
