Hunting provides a separate food supply from planted crops: collect creature meat, then use an available food recipe to prepare it.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
On a planet where creatures are present; prepare collected meat at an accessible Food Processor.
Use this loop when you need food ingredients from the environment rather than relying only on a greenhouse harvest. The specific creatures and food options depend on the world and the recipes currently available in your game, so confirm the ingredient and output in the Food Processor before committing your meat.
Equipment suitable for the local environment and the encounter
Access to a Food Processor for recipes that use the collected meat
Check that your equipment and supplies suit the planet’s hazards before leaving your base or vessel.
Explore the nearby terrain and look for creatures; availability varies with the world and environment.
Choose a creature you can safely approach and hunt with your available equipment.
Collect the meat from the encounter and check its item name in your inventory.
At a Food Processor, inspect the current recipes and identify a food option that accepts the meat you collected.
Provide the displayed ingredients and queue the recipe if the processor accepts them.
Collect the finished food and store it with your travel supplies or base provisions.
Farming tips
Check the processor’s live ingredient list before hunting specifically for a recipe; food options can vary with what you have available.
Keep crop seeds and sprouts separate from ingredients intended for processing so your planting supply remains intact.
Repeat, collect and use
This is a repeatable activity wherever creatures are available: hunt again, collect more meat, and process another batch when you have the displayed recipe inputs. Meat and prepared food are consumed, so each batch requires another hunt and collection.
Common mistakes
Assuming every creature yields the same useful meat: check the collected item before planning a recipe around it.
Starting a hunt without accounting for local hazards: prepare for the planet and encounter before leaving safety.
Queuing a remembered food recipe without checking its current inputs: use the Food Processor’s displayed requirements.
When to stop or switch
Stop when you have enough prepared food for your next outing or when the remaining meat no longer matches a recipe you can make. Switch to crop growing or other available food gathering when hunting becomes unsafe or creatures are scarce.
