Where to farm
Farm Soil crafted through the Farmer and placed as a plot at your base.
Rescue the Farmer, unlock Farm Soil crafting, and place prepared soil where you can manage crops. Use the Farmer's Seedbed to make seedlings, then plant them in soil compatible with each crop. Soil production is a setup task; the continuing work is harvesting and replenishing crops.
Materials listed in the current recipe and a suitable base area.
Rescue the Farmer and bring her to a Flame Altar base.
Interact with the Farmer's crafting options and confirm Farm Soil is unlocked.
Gather the ingredients displayed for the soil recipe.
Craft an amount suited to the crops you plan to grow rather than covering unused ground.
Place the soil in an accessible plot near the Seedbed and storage.
Craft seedlings at the Seedbed, check each crop's soil compatibility, and plant them.

Farm Soil placement is a setup step; expand or replace plots as your crop plans change. The crop cycle itself repeats through Seedbed production, planting, and harvest.

Expecting soil crafting before the Farmer quest: finish her rescue progression first.
Planting every seedling in Farm Soil automatically: seedlings can accept different dirt or sand types, so check each one.
