Before you go

- Meet the task’s level, prerequisite, and zone access requirements shown in the journal.
- Bring a group able to defeat the task’s listed encounter.
- Make room in inventory to receive the quest item, if the task requires looting it.
Farming steps
- Open Hero’s Journey and select the task that names Void Etched Symbol. Accept it if it is available but not active.
- Read the task detail and note its zone, target or encounter, prerequisite objectives, and turn-in contact.
- Travel with the group to that listed zone; confirm the correct task is active before engaging the target.
- Defeat the named target or required enemies specified by the task, following the encounter’s normal group mechanics.
- Check the loot and task journal for the Void Etched Symbol objective. The item is group-shared, but confirm credit on each character that needs it.
- If a character has no credit, check that character’s active task and prerequisites before the group leaves; resolve any missing requirement, then repeat the encounter if needed.
- Complete any remaining journal objectives and return to the listed contact to finish the task and collect its reward.
- Keep the group together through the encounter and check each eligible character’s journal before leaving the zone.
- Use the current task entry for the actual route; the group-shared change does not establish a fixed drop rate or universal encounter location.
Repeat, collect and use
This is a limited quest objective, not an endlessly farmable resource. Repeat the task encounter only for characters who still need credit and can access another run; completing it does not create a reusable supply of symbols.
Common mistakes
- Assuming group-shared means every character automatically has task credit: verify each journal and loot result, then address missing prerequisites.
- Going to a remembered or guessed zone: use the zone and target currently shown in the task entry.
- Leaving after the item appears without finishing the rest of the task: read the updated journal and complete its remaining steps and turn-in.
When to stop or switch
Stop repeating the encounter once every intended character has the objective credited; continue only through the task’s remaining objectives and turn-in, then switch to the next progression goal.
