WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Steps of Torment in the Act II wilderness. The challenge floors begin behind the Gates of Anguish.
Steps of Torment is the first rogue-like dungeon, found in Act II. Its final floors are sealed behind the Gates of Anguish, which require a Skeleton Key. The key is consumed on entry and the challenge continues until you finish or die, so prepare before opening the gate. Layouts and treasure placements can vary, making this a combat-and-loot run rather than a memorized chest sequence. It is a useful activity when you can consistently clear its dangerous encounters.
Reach the Steps of Torment and know the route to the sealed gates.
Carry a crafted Skeleton Key; it is consumed when the gates open.
Bring a character prepared for traps, powerful enemies, and the dungeon’s challenge.
Travel to the Steps of Torment entrance in Act II and move through the dungeon to the Gates of Anguish.
Use a Skeleton Key to open the gate and enter the rogue-like floors.
Fight through each area, adapting to the enemies and traps instead of rushing blindly.
Explore side paths and secret rooms when safe, since the route and treasure positions can change.
Reach the dungeon’s boss and reward rooms, defeating the threats that guard them.
Open the available chests and collect useful gear, blueprints, and materials.
Leave after completing the run and prepare another key if you plan to repeat.
Farming tips
The key is spent on entry, so do not begin without a build and inventory ready for the full run.
Use the local map and inspect destructible walls for hidden rooms, but skip detours when survival is at risk.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable with another Skeleton Key. The key is consumed once per entry; dungeon paths and individual loot are not guaranteed to repeat.
Common mistakes
Expecting to leave and resume without cost: plan to finish the challenge after consuming the key.
Rushing through traps and packs: clear deliberately to avoid losing the run.
Assuming every chest yields the same item: collect what appears and judge the run by its full rewards.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the boss and reward rooms are cleared, or leave the dungeon for a safer farming activity if your character is near defeat; do not spend another key until ready.
