Peculiar Chests offer a run-time exchange for a scroll you no longer want, which is a concrete way to redirect a poor build roll. This is not a Craftsman upgrade: the chest presents a choice involving the scroll you give up and a replacement outcome, so treat it as a run decision with uncertainty. When a Peculiar Chest appears, pause and compare the currently equipped scroll against the replacement options and your build’s needs. If the unwanted scroll is actively weakening your synergy or is redundant, exchanging it can be more valuable than holding it. If it is a key defensive or damage multiplier, keep it. The available service can vary by chest and run; do not assume every chest provides the same operation or that a desired scroll is guaranteed. This route is distinct from opening Vault reward chests: it focuses on exchanging an existing scroll rather than obtaining a reward through combat. Use it only when the swap improves the build you are trying to carry through the remaining stages.
