Before you go
- Unlocked and crafted Seed Extractor.
- Harvested crop items suitable for extraction.
- Storage to keep extracted seeds separate from produce.
Farming steps
- Choose the crop you want to grow again and collect its harvest.
- Set aside the amount of produce needed for food or other recipes.
- Place the portion intended for seed production into the Seed Extractor.
- Run the extraction using the station's available recipe or interaction.
- Collect the resulting seeds and store them separately from edible crops.
- Plant the seeds in a compatible Dirt Mound or Crop Plot.
- Keep a portion of the next harvest available to continue the cycle.
- Reserve seeds before bulk cooking or processing so you do not have to restart the crop line.
- If you lack a starting crop, a Workshop Farming Packet may provide seeds for a prospect.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat whenever you have suitable harvest material and need more seeds. The output depends on processing crops; it is not a guaranteed source without a harvest.
Common mistakes
- Processing the whole harvest before reserving food or recipe ingredients; divide the crop first.
- Assuming extraction creates seeds without crop inputs; bring harvested plant material to the station.
- Storing seeds with bulk produce where they may be consumed accidentally; keep planting stock distinct.
When to stop or switch
Stop extracting once you have enough seed stock for the next planting and a reserve; process more only when the farm needs replenishment.
