Crop Mutations

Grow a specific mutated crop by pairing its seed with the listed soil condition, and keep the resulting seed stock available for another planting cycle.

PC / Global, Early Access as of Oct 24, 2026; 1.0 announced for Nov 4, 2026
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Prepared farm mounds at the homestead, using seeds from the target crop family.

Mutation farming is crop-specific. In the recorded Early Access crop pairings, Wheat mutates in Potassic soil, Polyberry and Caroot in Phosphoric soil, and Rabbage in Nitrogenic soil. Start with a single mound and confirm the result before expanding a field.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Seeds for the crop whose mutation you want.
  • A prepared mound with the matching soil condition.
  • The fertilizer needed to set that soil condition.
  • Storage space to keep mutation output and seeds separate.
  1. Choose one mutation target and check its listed soil pairing before planting.
  2. Set a prepared mound to the required condition: Potassic for Wheat, Phosphoric for Polyberry or Caroot, or Nitrogenic for Rabbage.
  3. Confirm the mound shows the intended soil state, then plant only the selected crop there.
  4. Water the mound and let the plant mature using your normal farm routine.
  5. Harvest the crop and separate the mutated output from ordinary crop goods.
  6. Keep returned standard seeds reserved for further soil-based mutation cycles; use Spliced Seeds if you have the Seed Splicer and want guaranteed mutated planting.
  7. Use the harvested mutation for the relevant request or crafting need.

Farming tips

  • Do not scale a mutation field until a test mound produces the result you expect.
  • Keep mutation output separate from ordinary crops so it is not accidentally consumed or delivered.

Repeat, collect and use

The soil-based mutation loop is repeatable while you have seeds and can set the required mound condition. A Seed Splicer and Spliced Seeds are an alternate planting method when available.

Common mistakes

  • Using the wrong soil because another crop mutates there: follow the exact crop pairing.
  • Planting before verifying the mound: confirm soil first to avoid losing a cycle.
  • Expecting ordinary seed stock to guarantee a mutation: use the matching soil condition or Spliced Seeds through the Seed Splicer.

When to stop or switch

Stop when the requested mutated crop quantity is met; switch the mound back to a standard or high-yield pairing if you need ordinary harvests instead.
