WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Smithy’s weapon Augment Equipment menu after Iceborne augmentation is unlocked.
Affinity is one of the weapon augment options in Iceborne. Its cost depends on the weapon’s rarity and existing augment state, and applying it consumes materials. Read the displayed recipe at the Smithy before farming, then obtain the listed rare monster and Guiding Lands materials for that exact weapon.
Fully upgrade the selected weapon to an augmentable state.
Check its Affinity recipe and current augment slots at the Smithy.
Select the weapon in Augment Equipment at the Smithy.
Choose Affinity and record all listed materials and quantities.
Check whether the recipe calls for a Guiding Lands monster, Tempered material, or regional gathering item.
Use Hunter’s Notes and the region levels to make the required target available.
Hunt or gather the listed sources, collecting relevant drops and confirming inventory quantities.
Return to the Smithy and apply the Affinity augment after completing the recipe.
Review your build’s affinity totals before committing to another weapon augment.
Farming tips
Different rarity weapons can have different slot and material requirements, so do not reuse a recipe from another weapon.
Affinity augment can stack with other upgrades; assess the whole build before spending materials.
Repeat, collect and use
The augment is applied once per weapon configuration. Farming repeats only when augmenting another weapon or changing the existing setup; overwriting does not refund materials.
Common mistakes
Assuming one Affinity recipe fits every weapon: inspect the selected rarity and state.
Spending materials before checking the full build: compare affinity from skills and equipment first.
Expecting overwritten materials back: the Smithy does not refund materials used for prior augments.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the desired weapon reaches the affinity target for your build, then save remaining materials for other recipe requirements.
