PC / Global, base game with Iceborne expansion systems
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Guiding Lands; use Hunter’s Notes to confirm an eligible tempered threat-level-3 monster. Level 7 regions can produce Tempered Elder Dragons.

Great Spiritvein Gems are a named Iceborne Guiding Lands material used in high-end augmentation and armor upgrades. The Guiding Lands reward tables place them in the tempered threat-level-3 reward group; examples include Tempered Elder Dragons and other eligible top-threat monsters. Before the hunt, check the Smithy’s augment recipe and Hunter’s Notes → Guiding Lands to verify the current monster and reward tier. For an Elder Dragon route, raise the relevant region to level 7 so its tempered form can appear, then lure or wait for a qualifying Tempered Elder Dragon. During the fight, collect dropped shinies and finish the hunt; check both field pickups and mission rewards because the material can come through the Guiding Lands reward flow. Repeat only while the upgrade recipe is short. This route stays inside Iceborne’s postgame system and replaces the base-game Streamstone topic with the actual rare gem used by the expansion’s endgame.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Complete Iceborne’s story and unlock the Guiding Lands.
  • Unlock a relevant region and raise it to the level needed for a tempered threat-level-3 target.
  • Have an augment or armor upgrade recipe requiring Great Spiritvein Gems.
  1. At the Smithy, open the intended augment recipe and confirm the gem requirement.
  2. Check Hunter’s Notes → Guiding Lands for eligible monsters and their material group.
  3. Raise the chosen region to level 7 if targeting a Tempered Elder Dragon there.
  4. Use a lure or wait for the qualifying tempered monster, confirming its tempered icon/status before departure.
  5. Hunt it in the Guiding Lands and pick up dropped materials before leaving.
  6. Finish the hunt and inspect the Guiding Lands rewards and inventory for Great Spiritvein Gems.
  7. Repeat with another eligible monster or lure until the recipe requirement is met.

Farming tips

  • The route is gated by the monster’s reward tier; a regular monster is not interchangeable with its tempered version.
  • The level-7 region requirement is relevant to tempered Elder Dragon spawns; verify the chosen target in Hunter’s Notes.
  • No fixed drop quantity is guaranteed per hunt.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat eligible Guiding Lands tempered threat-level-3 hunts until the augment recipe is funded.

Common mistakes

  • Do not farm base-game Streamstones for Iceborne recipes.
  • Do not leave shinies uncollected if they are your planned material source.
  • Do not assume any tempered monster can provide a Great Spiritvein Gem.

When to stop or switch

Stop once the intended augment is craftable or switch targets if the Hunter’s Notes list a different tier.
