In Iceborne’s Guiding Lands, monster materials depend on region, level, and Tempered status. A lure can call a selected monster, helping you focus a hunt once its habitat and required variant are available. Check the Smithy recipe and Hunter’s Notes first; the lure does not remove the region-level requirement or guarantee every drop.
Before you go Own Iceborne, finish its story, and unlock the Guiding Lands. Discover the target and obtain an appropriate lure. Raise the target’s region to the level needed for its required variant. Inspect the augment recipe at the Smithy and record the exact monster material required. In Hunter’s Notes, confirm the target’s Guiding Lands region and the level needed for its normal or Tempered form. Check that you possess a lure for the target and that the relevant region is sufficiently leveled. Use the field map’s lure option to call the monster into the Guiding Lands. Hunt it, breaking the relevant part if the item table supports that route. Collect dropped materials and quest-end rewards, then compare them with the recipe. Farming tips Lure the Tempered form only when the required material calls for it and the region level allows it. Pick up monster drops during the encounter; the Guiding Lands’ unique materials can come from the hunt itself. Repeat, collect and use Repeat while you have lures or can obtain more through play. Lures are consumed for encounters, and drops are not guaranteed.
Common mistakes Calling the monster before checking its habitat and region level: verify both first. Farming a normal version for a Tempered-only material, or vice versa: match the variant to the recipe. Leaving drops behind: gather the materials the monster sheds before departing. When to stop or switch Stop once you have the listed quantity for the augment, then switch to the next monster or gathering material in that recipe.
