Before you go
- Data Discs for any required Research Center blueprint.
- Machines appropriate to the recipe, such as Recycler, furnace, Grinder, or Processor.
- The raw inputs, fuel, and water indicated by current machine recipes.
- Storage space for intermediate and finished outputs.
Farming steps
- Choose a specific construction part or commission item as the target.
- Read its recipe and list each needed intermediate material and producing machine.
- Check whether those machines and recipes are already unlocked; research needed blueprints with Data Discs.
- Gather the correct raw input, distinguishing ore from scrap before starting production.
- Run scrap through the matching Recycler or smelt ore in the furnace, following the visible recipe.
- Move bars or other intermediates to the Grinder or Processor when the target recipe requires them.
- Collect outputs and mark off the target quantity before using surplus elsewhere.
- Research the Civil Recycler when the required iron scrap chain calls for that tier; a basic machine is not interchangeable.
- Use separate labeled storage for raw inputs, intermediates, and commission-ready parts.
Repeat, collect and use
Machine chains are reusable whenever inputs, fuel, water, and unlocked recipes are available. Output quantities and process times should be read from the current machine interface.
Common mistakes
- Starting with the target alone and ignoring intermediates causes preventable stalls; trace the whole recipe first.
- Using a Recycler for ore or a furnace for scrap confuses separate inputs; follow the correct station recipe.
- Leaving outputs uncollected can occupy machine capacity; clear completed batches before queuing more.
When to stop or switch
Stop the chain when the target quantity and a sensible reserve are ready; switch to the next bottleneck or replenish the missing input.
