Before you go
- A Pickaxe suitable for the target cave rocks.
- Combat readiness and supplies for deeper exploration.
- A Furnace for processing ore after the trip.
Farming steps
- Check the crafting recipe and identify the exact ore tier it needs.
- For Gold, explore an accessible cave; for later ores, select the matching depth and biome.
- Enter with a weapon, food, Pickaxe and enough inventory space.
- Mine visible target ore from rocks, clearing threats around each work area.
- Check nearby branches for more of the chosen ore while keeping track of your supplies.
- Return to the settlement and smelt the ore into bars.
- Craft the intended equipment or progression item, then reassess the next ore requirement.
- Use the named cave region as your route filter; changing biome or depth can change which ore you encounter.
- Gather one target tier at a time to keep trips and inventory easier to manage.
Repeat, collect and use
Cave ore gathering can be repeated as needed, but local yields vary. Incursion materials require their own activity and should not be treated as ordinary ore veins.
Common mistakes
- Searching the wrong depth or biome: verify the target’s region before traveling.
- Expecting Nightsteel or Spiderite from regular caves: pursue their incursion source instead.
- Mining without a use in mind: check the recipe first and stop when the needed bars are ready.
When to stop or switch
Return once you have enough ore for the selected recipe, or switch to the correct cave region if the target ore does not match the current route.
