Where to farm
The first corrupted altar in the currently active Monoliths of Madness zone.
The first corrupted altar turns three Lesser Abyssal Lures into a group encounter and a purification reward. This is a repeatable active-zone activity for Shards of Madness and altar progression; lure drops are possible, not guaranteed per enemy.
Level 20 or higher and access to the Monoliths campaign.
Complete any Sergeant Knox story gate needed for the active zone.
Three Lesser Abyssal Lures; nearby players are helpful for the summoned fight.
Open the campaign or event panel and confirm which of the four zones is active.
Enter that zone and check the map for the corrupted first altar.
Defeat enemies in the active zone and collect Lesser Abyssal Lures as they drop.
Keep farming until your inventory shows three lures.
Travel to the first altar and interact with it to summon its nightmare.
Fight the summon with nearby players, then verify the altar is purified.
Collect the credited Shards and any displayed reward before moving on.
Farming tips
Kill Maxare’xek first if the roaming boss is available; its zone damage buff lasts one hour.
Use the event panel to check your challenge progress alongside altar credit.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat while the zone is active and you want more Shards or altar rewards. The active zone rotates, so this route is not available in every zone each week.
Common mistakes
Using lures in an inactive zone: confirm the current mainstage before farming.
Expecting every enemy to drop a lure: keep clearing enemies until you have three.
Starting alone against a difficult summon: wait for players or call for help if needed.
When to stop or switch
Stop after the altar is purified and its reward is credited, or switch to daily challenges if you have no lures left.
