WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Run level 65+ Elite Ancient and Elite Supply Chest routes, Catacombs, Mutations, raids, or PvP activities; use the in-game gear upgrade interface for eligible items.

Umbral Crystals upgrade eligible gear from 700 Gear Score upward, with the recorded Nighthaven system allowing upgrades up to 800. Elite chests can also provide infix gear, while Catacombs, raids, Mutations, and PvP activities offer other progression opportunities. Pick the source that fits your playstyle, then spend crystals on gear you expect to keep rather than upgrading every temporary drop.

How to farm

Before you go

Own gear at 700 Gear Score or above to use the Umbral upgrade system.
Access level 65+ elite areas if farming elite chests.
Identify a durable build item worth upgrading and check its current upgrade eligibility.

Choose a progression source you can complete consistently, such as an elite chest group, raid, or Catacombs run.
Collect Umbral Crystals and inspect elite chests for possible infix equipment.
Review any new gear’s fixed perks, sockets, and compatibility with your build.
Select a 700+ item that you expect to keep and open its upgrade interface.
Spend Umbral Crystals to raise the item’s Gear Score within the system’s current limits.
Attach compatible charms if the item has suitable open sockets and your build benefits.
Repeat the selected content and reassess whether future crystals improve a stronger long-term item.

Farming tips

Check current upgrade caps and any earn limits in the live interface before committing materials.
Prioritize core weapon, armor, or jewelry pieces that already fit your build instead of upgrading a likely replacement.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable progression while the content remains available, but crystal acquisition and upgrade eligibility are limited by current game rules.

Common mistakes

Trying to upgrade gear below the eligibility threshold: use eligible 700+ equipment.
Spending crystals on an item you will quickly replace: confirm the item’s perks and build fit first.
Assuming every elite chest yields an infix: chest loot is variable, so treat infix gear as a possible outcome.

When to stop or switch

Stop upgrading when the item reaches its useful cap or the next upgrade would be less valuable than saving crystals for a better piece.
