Sailing Shipwreck Salvage

Train Sailing while gathering salvage and choosing longer low-attention sessions.

Old School RuneScape live global game; PC and mobile cross-progression. Guides checked against English live service on 2026-10-24.
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Active shipwreck clusters around the seas; early routes include small wrecks south of Port Sarim, with higher-tier areas available as Sailing advances.

Salvaging lets you work wreck clusters for materials while progressing Sailing. A useful session depends on finding an active wreck, carrying a suitable hook and having enough hold space. Higher-tier wreck areas become options as Sailing progression and boat protection allow.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Complete Pandemonium and have a boat with cargo space and a salvaging hook.
  • Access to the wreck tier you plan to visit.
  • Boat protection suitable for hazardous waters, plus supplies for the voyage.
  1. Check that your boat has a salvaging hook and enough cargo room before departure.
  2. Sail to an active wreck cluster appropriate to your access and protection.
  3. Move within range and operate the hook to collect salvage.
  4. Sort salvage when the hold gets crowded, or use an unlocked shipboard station.
  5. Move to another active wreck nearby when the current cluster is depleted or unproductive.
  6. Return to port and bank the salvage you want to keep before preparing another trip.

Farming tips

  • Cargo capacity, hook quality, crew deckhandiness and sorting time affect how long a trip remains useful.
  • Choose waters your boat can handle; a higher-tier destination is impractical if its hazards exceed your protection.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat trips while wrecks are active and the hold can carry useful salvage. The amount gathered and its value vary.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving port with too little cargo space; clear the hold and plan for sorting.
  • Sailing into hazardous waters without suitable protection; use a tier your boat can handle.
  • Staying at an empty cluster; relocate to active wrecks or end the trip.

When to stop or switch

Return when the hold is full, the local cluster is depleted or the next destination exceeds your boat’s protection.
