High Quality Pal Oil from Dumud

Before you go
- Combat gear suited to Dumud and local desert threats.
- Pal Spheres if capturing a Dumud for Ranch production.
- A Ranch and accessible storage for the base route.
- A station offering Polymer and its other displayed ingredients.
Farming steps
- Inspect the Polymer recipe and note the oil quantity and other materials needed for your planned batch.
- Choose Twilight Dunes or Dry Sandy Beach and prepare for local conditions and enemies.
- Travel to the area and locate Dumud in the open desert.
- Defeat Dumud and collect its High Quality Pal Oil; each defeated Dumud drops one oil according to the recorded species claim.
- Repeat encounters if you need an immediate field supply, leaving enough inventory room to carry the oil home.
- For ongoing production, capture a Dumud and assign it to a Ranch at your base.
- Confirm the Ranch assignment and collect its periodic High Quality Pal Oil output into storage.
- Move oil to the Polymer station and craft only after checking that the other recipe inputs are available.
- Use field defeats for immediate oil and reserve a captured Dumud for the Ranch if you want both sources.
- Dumud Gild may also produce High Quality Pal Oil at a Ranch; check its listed output before relying on it.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeatable: revisit Dumud areas and defeat more Dumud for field drops, or collect periodic oil while a Dumud remains assigned to a working Ranch. The Ranch route supplies oil over time rather than as a one-time reward.
Common mistakes
- Capturing Dumud and expecting its defeat drop: defeat it to collect the supported one-oil drop; use a captured Pal for Ranch production.
- Assuming every similar Pal produces oil at a Ranch: confirm the assigned species and its displayed output.
- Starting Polymer crafting without checking the other inputs: inspect the full recipe and gather the missing materials first.
When to stop or switch
Stop field hunting when your oil stock covers the planned Polymer batch and any other intended use. Keep a Dumud assigned to the Ranch if you want gradual replenishment.
