Hydroponics supports indoor crop production, but a power or lighting interruption can threaten plants and calls for a backup harvest plan.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
A roofed indoor grow room with hydroponics basins, a sun lamp, and access to an alternative soil field or food reserve.
Hydroponic basins offer high fertility for crops in a controlled room, but the system depends on light and power. A sun lamp supplies the light needed for most indoor crops; basins alone do not make plants immune to outages or temperature problems. Use the room for planned production while keeping an outdoor or soil-based food option where possible. If power fails, assess the plants promptly and collect what is usable before it is lost.
A sun lamp and stable power supply for indoor crop lighting.
Temperature control appropriate to the selected crop.
A backup food source or a plan to harvest vulnerable plants during an outage.
Research Hydroponics and build basins in a room suited to crop production.
Install a sun lamp over the growing area; ordinary lamps provide too little light for most crops.
Select a crop in each basin and verify its temperature and other growth conditions in the plant information.
Keep the room powered and temperature controlled, while maintaining an outdoor field or food reserve as backup.
If power is interrupted, inspect the room’s light and plant status rather than assuming growth continues.
Harvest partially grown plants if the outage or conditions threaten the crop, and move usable output to food storage.
Restore power and lighting, then replant only after the room is back within suitable conditions.
Farming tips
Treat hydroponic production as dependent on the whole room setup, not just basin placement.
Keep a separate field or food stock so an outage does not make the indoor room the colony’s only food source.
Repeat, collect and use
Hydroponic crops can be replanted repeatedly while power, lighting, temperature, and inputs remain available. Emergency harvesting is situational and does not guarantee a full yield.
Common mistakes
Using a standing lamp as a sun lamp substitute: check the light level and use the appropriate grow lighting.
Assuming high basin fertility overrides outages or poor temperature: monitor plant status and environmental conditions.
Relying only on indoor crops: preserve a soil field or stored food as backup.
When to stop or switch
Pause indoor sowing when the room cannot maintain light or temperature, and resume after those conditions and the backup reserve are restored.
