Control Villager Farm Tasks

Set which farm jobs villagers handle so their help fits your crop plan and field layout.

PC / Global, Steam version released June 5, 2025
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

The options menu and village farm plots where villagers help with crops.

Villagers can help sow, water, and harvest crops, and you can toggle those behaviors in the game’s options. Use the controls to keep workers focused on the jobs that suit a field: for example, allow routine watering while handling a planned harvest yourself. This is an ongoing farm-management activity, not a resource collection route. Check the current field and your crop goal before changing settings, then inspect the result in play and adjust if the work no longer fits.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • A restored village with villagers available to help on its farm.
  • Crops planted in the village field.
  • Access to the options that control villager sowing, watering, and harvesting.
  1. Choose the village field whose work you want to manage and check what is planted there.
  2. Open the game’s options and find the villager farm-task controls.
  3. Review the separate sowing, watering, and harvesting behaviors available there.
  4. Enable the tasks that fit your plan; disable any that would disrupt a reserved crop or planned layout.
  5. Return to the field and let villagers tend the crops according to the selected behaviors.
  6. Inspect the plot during your next visit to see which tasks were handled and whether any tiles need your attention.
  7. Change the options again when your crop plan or field use changes.

Farming tips

  • Reserve request crops or specific harvests by disabling villager harvesting when you need to collect them yourself.
  • Villager help does not replace choosing suitable seeds or checking the field for missed work.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeat whenever you change a field’s purpose or want villagers to handle a different mix of sowing, watering, and harvesting. This is ongoing task management, not a one-time reward.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving every task enabled when you need to control a specific harvest: turn off harvesting for crops you intend to collect yourself.
  • Assuming workers will plant the crop you want: select and plant the target seed yourself.
  • Assuming assigned work guarantees every tile is tended: inspect the plot and handle any missed tasks.

When to stop or switch

Stop adjusting the controls when villagers are handling the jobs you want; revisit them when the field’s crop plan changes.
