WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Farm plots in a village’s editable development area, managed through village assignment options.
Village residents can take on farm tasks after you restore settlements and assign their work. This can shift watering, sowing or harvesting away from the player, but you still choose the crop plan and should check the field when requests or layout matter.
Open the village management or building screen for the settlement you want to automate.
Choose an available resident and assign farm work.
Review the farming behavior options and enable the tasks you want the villager to handle, such as sowing, watering or harvesting.
Plant the crop you want maintained in the accessible farm area, leaving a layout that workers can use.
Return to the village and inspect the field and stored harvest after the worker has had time to tend it.
Manually water, harvest or replant any tiles the worker did not handle, especially crops reserved for a request.
Farming tips
Turn off a specific worker task if automatic sowing or harvesting interferes with a planned crop row.
Keep a small manually managed patch for crops or quality goals that need close attention.
Repeat, collect and use
Ongoing while the villager remains assigned and the village has farm work to do. Crop output depends on the planted field and worker behavior; assignment alone does not create a harvest.
Common mistakes
Assigning a worker before planting a crop: provide a planted field and confirm the desired tasks are enabled.
Assuming every tile is handled automatically: inspect the plot and fill in missed care yourself.
