Fishing Route for Food and Scrap
Swamp, river, ocean, or an Underwater Lab moon pool; each water area has its own catch pool. Return to a Fishing Village if selling for Scrap.
Before you go
- A Handmade Fishing Rod obtained through crafting, missions, or a Fishing Village.
- Bait gathered by foraging, hunting animals, or from food crates.
- Inventory room for the intended catch; Fishing Village access for the Scrap-sale path.
Farming steps
- Choose the water area that is practical for the trip: swamp, river, ocean, and Underwater Lab moon pool each offer different fish.
- Bring a rod and bait; collect bait on an earlier forage or hunting trip if needed.
- Apply bait to the rod, hold right click to prepare, and cast with left click.
- When a fish bites, steer it with the directional controls while reeling in gradually.
- If the line gets tense, pause reeling briefly instead of forcing the pull until it snaps.
- Bring the catch home to eat or gut for loot, or travel to a Fishing Village to sell it for Scrap.
- Restock bait and repeat only when the chosen output is worth the travel and exposure.
- Choose the destination before casting: food, gutting, and Scrap sale use the same catch but different follow-up steps.
- Keep the fish near the center with directional corrections and release reel pressure when tension builds.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat by sourcing more bait and fishing again. The sale loop requires a Fishing Village trip; catches and loot should not be treated as guaranteed quantities.
Common mistakes
- Fishing without bait: apply bait to the rod before casting.
- Reeling continuously through high line tension: pause the reel to avoid a snapped line.
- Expecting the same fish in every water: select the area based on its different catch pool.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the planned food or Scrap target is met, or when your return trip is too risky for the catch value.
