Rust FARMING GUIDES

Know what to farm.
And where to go.

Rust farming combines exposed resource-node runs, risky monument looting and base crop production. Metal and sulfur ore are smelted for crafting, while scrap and components come from containers and recycling. Planter farms use water, light and plant genetics to produce food, cloth and tea ingredients, but on PvP servers a farm also needs defense.

What matters before you farm

Unlock requirements, costs and tips to help you get started.

✦

Recycle components at a monument

Collect recyclable components from crates or barrels, then process them at a standard monument recycler to recover materials and scrap. Bring only what you can risk losing on the trip.

✦

Mine the lit hotspots on ore nodes

Stone, Sulfur, and Metal are separate node types around rock formations. When the mining minigame appears, striking its illuminated hotspots increases resources per hit.

✦

Inspect crop genes after planting

Seed genes are assigned when planted, so check the revealed traits before cloning. Crossbreeding same-crop plants in planter boxes can help develop a repeatable strain.
