Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Hold V and select Copper Ore, then follow the compass marker toward a resource group.
  2. Inspect the nodes directly and compare purity, access, and distance to your intended processing area.
  3. Use a Portable Miner for a temporary supply, returning to collect its output by hand.
  4. For automation, place a Miner on the chosen node and connect the output to a conveyor belt.
  5. Feed the ore into a Smelter and collect the Copper Ingots on a dedicated output belt.
  6. Send ingots to a Constructor making Wire or to the required Cable chain, keeping the product routes distinct.
  7. Check power and belt capacity before increasing miner clock or adding more downstream machines.

Repeat, collect and use

A powered Miner can supply copper continuously while power and downstream production are available. Portable Miner collection is finite per visit: place it, return to collect stored ore, and repeat when another manual load is useful.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing copper products without a clear route makes it harder to tell which line is short; give ingots, wire, and cable identifiable paths.
  • Ignoring purity can constrain the line; inspect the node and plan output around its quality.
  • Clocking the Miner beyond the connected belt’s capacity wastes potential output; upgrade or split the route first.

When to stop or switch

Keep the line at the level needed for present wire and cable use. Expand or relocate only when a measured shortage or a better accessible node justifies the extra infrastructure.
