WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Heavy Oil Residue acquisition

Use a Packager to unpackage the packaged fluid, with a pipe for Heavy Oil Residue and a separate solid output for Empty Canisters. If a Refinery already makes Heavy Oil Residue as a byproduct, route that fluid to a suitable consumer.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Unlock the recipe and build a powered Packager.
  2. Supply 2 Packaged Heavy Oil Residue for each batch.
  3. Connect a pipe from the fluid output to storage or a downstream process.
  4. Connect the solid output to storage or logistics for Empty Canisters.
  5. Select Unpackage Heavy Oil Residue and start the machine.
  6. At 100% clock, plan for 20 m³ per minute and 20 Empty Canisters per minute.
  7. Route the fluid to an unlocked Refinery recipe such as Residual Fuel or Petroleum Coke.

Repeat, collect and use

Run the Packager only as fast as your downstream fluid process can accept the output, and keep the canister path clear.

Common mistakes

  • Treating Heavy Oil Residue as a raw node resource instead of supplying Packaged Heavy Oil Residue to the Packager.
  • Ignoring the Empty Canisters produced alongside the fluid.

When to stop or switch

Stop when downstream storage is full, no process can accept more fluid, or the canister output is blocked.
