Foraging can add food during a wilderness trip, provided you identify each mushroom rather than treating every pickup as safe.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Forest and mountain ground cover while traveling on foot.
Mushrooms occur in forests and mountains, but edible and poisonous species are both present. Identify a find before eating it and keep uncertain specimens separate. This guide covers mushroom gathering only; it does not imply that every forest route or season offers a reliable quantity.
Other food available so you are not pressured to eat an unknown find.
Travel on foot through forest or mountain ground cover and scan the ground for mushroom pickups.
Collect a mushroom only if you have room to keep it separate from known safe food.
Check its species against the in-game identification information available to you before eating.
Use recognized edible species such as Boletus edulis or Cantharellus cibarius as food.
Keep Amanita and other species identified as poisonous out of your meal inventory.
Store known edible mushrooms with food and leave dangerous or unidentified specimens unused.
Continue scanning as you travel, then review the collected items before consuming them.
Farming tips
Do not use a mystery mushroom as a test meal; poisonous species can cause serious harm.
Separate identified food from unknown finds so a hurried meal does not include the wrong item.
Repeat, collect and use
Repeat during wilderness travel whenever mushrooms are present. Availability and species are variable, so foraging is a supplement rather than a guaranteed food route.
Common mistakes
Eating an unidentified mushroom risks poisoning; verify the species first.
Assuming all mushrooms are edible ignores the poisonous species; use only known safe finds.
Mixing unknown finds with food can lead to an accidental meal; keep them separate or discard them.
When to stop or switch
Stop eating gathered mushrooms if you cannot identify them or if your inventory is full; rely on known food until a safe find is confirmed.
