Slime Keys

Slime Keys open Slime Gates that block access to new regions and their farming opportunities.

PC / Global, final release
WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Gordos at Slime Gate routes in the Dry Reef and other regions; gate-blocking Gordos are the useful targets for access.

Gordos are stationary large slimes that burst after being fed enough food. Some release Slime Keys, which can open gates and extend your exploration routes. Match the food to the Gordo’s diet, then verify the reward at the site before committing to a long trip: some Gordo locations provide a shortcut instead of a key. The Pink Gordo accepts any food, while Phosphor and Rock Gordos require fruit and vegetables respectively.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Access to the region containing the target Gordo.
  • Food matching its slime diet: any food for Pink, fruit for Phosphor, vegetables for Rock.
  • An open VacPack slot to collect a dropped key.
  1. Choose a Gordo on a route toward a Slime Gate and confirm its listed reward before traveling.
  2. Bring a substantial supply of the food category it accepts.
  3. Feed the Gordo repeatedly, continuing until it bursts; the exact amount depends on its diet and favorite food.
  4. Look over the burst site for the Slime Key and other drops.
  5. Vacuum up the key and keep it in your inventory as you travel.
  6. Carry it to the matching locked Slime Gate and use it to open the route.
  7. Explore the newly accessible region and note any further gate or shortcut options.

Farming tips

  • A Pink Gordo can be fed any food; a Phosphor needs fruit and a Rock needs vegetables.
  • Check the reward before feeding a Gordo, since a shortcut reward does not serve as a gate key.

Repeat, collect and use

Limited: each Gordo can be burst once, and a dropped Slime Key is a one-time reward from that target; other gates require other keys or routes.

Common mistakes

  • Bringing the wrong food category: pack food that matches the Gordo’s diet before the expedition.
  • Assuming every Gordo gives a key: select a target whose reward is appropriate to the gate goal.
  • Leaving the burst site without the key: inspect and vacuum the reward before moving on.

When to stop or switch

Stop the key run once the intended Slime Gate opens; switch to exploration or a new key target if another gate remains locked.
