WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Drying Rack Surplus

A base cooking area with a drying rack, near your regular food storage and travel preparation point.

Before you go

Farming steps

  1. Build or use a drying rack in your base cooking area.
  2. Bring back meat from a hunted land animal or fish caught from visible-fish water.
  3. Set aside the amount you need for immediate meals.
  4. Place surplus meat or fish on the rack using its interaction.
  5. Return to ordinary base tasks while the food dries; do not count fresh rack loads as ready provisions yet.
  6. Collect dried food when it is ready and store it with your expedition supplies.
  7. Pack preserved portions before leaving for a cave or bunker.

Repeat, collect and use

Repeatable processing loop whenever you bring home new meat or fish; each load is limited by the food you collect and rack capacity.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving a trip's surplus raw; load it onto the rack at camp.
  • Expecting dried output to be an immediate cooked meal; collect it after it has dried.
  • Taking all fresh food for storage when you need a meal now; reserve immediate portions first.

When to stop or switch

Stop loading once your expedition food reserve is sufficient or the rack is full; resume after the next hunting or fishing return.
