Where to farm
First complete the Erchius Mining Facility mission from the Outpost; afterward, mine Erchius crystals in moon caves.
The early progression route begins with the Erchius Mining Facility mission, which supplies Erchius Crystal. After that, moons provide a repeatable source of crystals, but their radiation hazard requires appropriate protection. Convert crystals at the ship’s Fuel Hatch and keep enough fuel for the next intended trip.
Access to the Outpost mission and enough gear to complete the facility.
A Radiation EPP for moon exploration after the mission.
Mining tool, healing items, and space for crystals.
A ship Fuel Hatch to convert collected crystals into fuel.
Accept and complete the Erchius Mining Facility mission through the Outpost mission system.
Collect the mission’s Erchius Crystal reward and use it at the ship Fuel Hatch if fuel is needed for travel.
For additional supply, use the navigation console to select a moon and confirm you have radiation protection equipped.
Beam down and enter a cave; mine exposed Erchius crystal deposits while watching health and remaining supplies.
Return to the ship when your inventory is crowded or the descent is no longer safe.
Open the Fuel Hatch and convert the collected crystals into ship fuel.
Check the available fuel before plotting another journey, keeping a reserve for your planned destination.
Farming tips
Moon radiation is a hazard to prepare for before landing; do not rely on ordinary armor as a substitute for the correct EPP.
Use mission crystals for immediate travel needs, then mine moons when a larger reserve is useful.
Repeat, collect and use
The mission reward is a one-time progression payout. Moon mining is repeatable, with finite deposits on each moon; visit another moon when more crystals are needed.
Common mistakes
Going to a moon without a Radiation EPP; prepare protection first.
Expecting the mission to provide an unlimited supply; use moon caves for ongoing collection.
Leaving crystals unused in inventory when travel is blocked; convert them at the ship Fuel Hatch.
When to stop or switch
Stop when the Fuel Hatch shows enough fuel for your next planned route and reserve; resume moon mining when fuel becomes a travel constraint.
