WHERE & HOW TO FARM
Where to farm
Supply crates around the starting drop pod and shallow biomes; Arctic Peepers and Bladderfish in areas such as Twisty Bridges and Safe Shallows.
Build a food reserve from supply crates, then rely on nearby fish for shorter trips. Process fish before setting out and carry water as well as food; cooked fish is useful but not a substitute for a planned supply.
Open supply crates around the starting drop pod and nearby shallow areas, collecting any Nutrient Blocks found.
Search shallow water for Arctic Peepers and Bladderfish.
Catch fish by hand when possible; use the Knife where needed for a harvestable fish.
Return to a Fabricator and cook edible fish or process Bladderfish for water.
Pack food and water before leaving the shallows for a longer route.
Keep Nutrient Blocks stored for emergencies rather than consuming the whole reserve on routine trips.
Restock from local fish and crates when returning through shallow regions.
Farming tips
Carry water as well as food; long dives can make either supply the limiting factor.
Cook fish close to departure because prepared food is less suitable for long-term storage.
Repeat, collect and use
Fish catches can be repeated as local populations are available. Crates are one-time pickups, so treat Nutrient Blocks as a limited reserve and supplement them with fish.
Common mistakes
Expecting every crate to contain a Nutrient Block: crate contents vary.
Leaving with cooked food too early: prepare it near departure and avoid carrying more than needed.
Taking fish but no water: process Bladderfish or bring stored water for longer journeys.
When to stop or switch
End a fishing stop when you have enough provisions for the next route; switch back to exploration before carrying unnecessary perishables.
