Deep Shrooms

Establish a Deep Shroom crop at your base to keep the useful flora available for crafting without repeated deep-zone collection trips.

WHERE & HOW TO FARM

Where to farm

Wild specimens grow on the seabed in the Blood Kelp Zone and Lost River; cultivate them in an Exterior Growbed at base.

Deep Shrooms grow in the Blood Kelp Zone and Lost River. Cutting an attached specimen with a knife yields spores, which you can plant in an Exterior Growbed. Collect the initial spores with a safe approach, then maintain a base crop for later harvesting and propagation. Deep Shrooms are a crafting resource rather than an edible crop.

GET STARTED

How to farm

Before you go

  • Survival knife.
  • Exterior Growbed built at a base.
  • Vehicle or oxygen capacity appropriate to the selected wild location.
  • Storage for the spores and grown material.
  1. Choose a reachable Blood Kelp Zone or Lost River edge where Deep Shrooms grow attached to the seabed.
  2. Approach with enough oxygen or a suitable vehicle, and identify an attached specimen before using the knife.
  3. Cut the attached Deep Shroom to obtain spores; keep room to move away after the knife strike.
  4. Return to base and place the spores into an Exterior Growbed.
  5. Allow the planted crop to grow, then use the knife on a grown Deep Shroom when you need spores for expansion.
  6. Collect the resulting Deep Shroom material for the fabrication that requires it.
  7. Leave enough plants growing to preserve a source for future crafting and propagation.

Farming tips

  • A base growbed turns a deep-zone pickup into a nearby supply, reducing the need to repeat the hazardous collection trip.
  • Keep space clear around the plant so you can approach and cut it without striking adjacent flora.

Repeat, collect and use

The wild specimens are limited to their locations, but planted crops provide a repeatable source. Harvest in moderation so the bed remains productive.

Common mistakes

  • Trying to propagate from an unattached picked sample: cut an attached wild plant for spores.
  • Forgetting the Exterior Growbed: spores need a suitable planter before they can establish a crop.
  • Cutting every plant in the bed: retain enough growth to support future collection.

When to stop or switch

Stop wild collection once you have established a healthy base crop; return to the bed for later crafting needs.
